The Etna Volcano range’s Etna lemon honey brings together two symbols of Sicily: citrus fruits and the volcano. It is produced at the foot of Mount Etna, amidst lava fields and Mediterranean scents.
The honey is produced in the area of Zafferana Etnea, the historic heart of Sicilian beekeeping. Here, the lava soils give the local produce unique and distinctive characteristics. This is why the honey from this area has always been known as “the Gold of Etna”.
It is the result of the patient work of the ‘lapari’, the Sicilian beekeepers. They are the guardians of a tradition that began in the early decades of the 20th century, and which still today combines knowledge, respect for nature and the local culture.
Bees collect nectar from lemon blossoms – white, fragrant blossoms. The honey produced has a fresh, citrusy aroma. It tastes sweet, but with a pleasant, zesty note that makes it unique.
It’s delicious in herbal teas and regular tea, especially on cold days. It also goes well with citrus-flavoured desserts and fresh cheeses. Try it on a slice of warm bread for breakfast, too.
