Etna sulla honey, a Sicilian speciality

The honey is produced in the area of Zafferana Etnea, the historic heart of Sicilian beekeeping. Here, the lava soils give the local produce unique and distinctive characteristics. This is why the honey from this area has always been known as “the Gold of Etna”.

It is the result of the patient work of the ‘lapari’, the Sicilian beekeepers. They are the guardians of a tradition that began in the early decades of the 20th century, and which still today combines knowledge, respect for nature and the local culture.

Flavour and characteristics

The sulla is a legume with purple-red flowers, very common in the pastures of southern Italy. Its honey is light in colour, with a sweet and delicate flavour and a subtle aroma. It also tends to crystallise finely, taking on a creamy consistency.

How to enjoy it

Thanks to its mild flavour, it is ideal for children and for those who prefer a less intense honey. You can use it in milk, yoghurt or on bread. It is also excellent in desserts, as it does not overpower the other flavours.
